Growing under my bedroom window so that it flowers right at the windowsill is that glorious old Bourbon rose 'Souvenir de la Malmaison'. It's named for Malmaison, the famous rose garden of Napoleon and Josephine, in Paris. It likes our front wall just as much as Paris, growing vigorously in the northern aspect and flowering all winter, with a spell just through the heat of summer.
