Over the years plant breeders have created many different flower shapes including spiky 'cactus' and 'star' forms, delicate 'water lily' types, simple 'singles', tiny 'miniatures', bicoloured 'collarette' types, charming 'paeony' style, rounded 'pompon' and the large, old fashioned 'show' and 'decorative' forms.
Don't plant the tubers any deeper than 10 cm. The large varieties can be planted a metre apart, the smaller ones 60 cm apart.
